Frequently asked questions
Find Equipment Sales indexes 4,116 listings from 507 Australian dealers. Here's how it works.
For buyers
Do you sell the equipment on this site?
No. We are a search platform, not a dealer. We index equipment advertised by Australian dealers on their own websites and link you straight back to them. We never hold stock, never take a deposit and never take a commission on a sale.
Does it cost me anything?
Nothing. Searching, the valuation tool and the finance calculator are all free, and there is no account to create.
Where do the listings come from?
From the dealers’ own websites. Our crawler reads their public stock pages nightly and pulls in the specifications, price and photos. Some dealers supply us a direct feed instead. Either way, the dealer is the source and the listing links back to them.
How current are the prices?
Every listing shows the exact time we last checked it. Prices in this market move, and stock sometimes sells before the advertisement comes down, so treat the figure as the dealer’s asking price at that moment and confirm it before you drive anywhere.
Why do some prices say “+ GST” and others don’t?
Because dealers advertise differently, and we show exactly what they stated rather than converting between the two. Machinery is usually quoted excluding GST; light commercials are more often inclusive. Where a dealer did not say, we label it “GST not stated”. Always confirm the GST treatment before you commit — on a $200,000 machine it is a $20,000 question.
What does “Below market” or “Above market” mean on a listing?
It compares the asking price against other listings of the same make, category and year in our index, using the median so a single outlier can’t skew it. It only appears when we hold at least three genuine comparables. It is an observation about advertised prices, not a valuation and not advice about what to pay.
Are the weekly repayment figures real?
They are indicative estimates, not offers of credit. They assume a chattel mortgage over a fixed term at a “from” rate, and they exclude fees, on-road costs and your circumstances. Overdrive Commercial Funding can give you a proper quote with your actual rate and every fee disclosed.
Do dealers pay to appear higher in the results?
Not in the ordinary results. Those are ranked by your filters and your chosen sort order, nothing else. Dealers can buy a Featured placement, and where that appears it is labelled as advertising so you can tell the difference.
How do I contact the seller?
Use the link on the listing. It takes you to the dealer’s own page, where their contact details are. We do not sit in the middle of that conversation and we do not pass your details to dealers.
A listing was already sold. What do I do?
Tell us at contact@findequipment.com.au and we will pull it. We would rather hear about it than have you waste a trip. We re-check listings nightly and drop them as soon as they disappear from the dealer’s site, but there is always a lag.
Can private sellers list here?
Yes, and it’s free — no listing fee and nothing to pay when it sells. Use the private seller form under “List your stock”. We publish the machine and the suburb but never your phone number or email: buyers enquire through us and we pass their details straight to you. Every private listing is checked by a person before it goes live.
Do you list hire or rental equipment?
No. Sales only. Hire units have no sale price, so they would clutter your search and distort the price comparisons.
For dealers
How do I get my stock on here?
Fill in the form on our list your stock page. We read your website and your listings appear, usually within 48 hours. You do not upload anything and there is nothing to log into.
What does it cost a dealer?
Nothing for standard listings — no listing fees, no commission, no lock-in. Featured placement, which puts your stock at the top of relevant searches and is labelled as advertising, is $500 a month and you can cancel any time.
How does the crawler behave on my site?
One page at a time, with a minimum gap between requests, off-peak, and it identifies itself honestly as FindEquipmentSalesBot. It obeys your robots.txt, backs off if your server pushes back, and prefers your sitemap over crawling pagination because that is cheaper for you. The full detail is on our crawler policy page.
What do you do with my photographs?
We display them from your own server — we never copy, resize or re-host them. If you have hotlink protection, the images simply will not load and we show a link to your page instead. We do not work around it.
Do you copy my listing descriptions?
No. We store the structured specifications and write our own summary from them. Your description stays on your site, and we link buyers to it.
Who gets the enquiry?
You do. Buyers click through to your website. The only thing we keep is a finance enquiry, if the buyer asks for one, and that goes to our finance partner — not to your competitors.
Can I get my listings taken down?
Yes, immediately and permanently. Email takedown@findequipment.com.au and we action it within 48 hours — one listing, a correction, or your whole domain. We do not ask you to justify it, and we keep a suppression list so a later crawl cannot bring it back.
Will this compete with my own website?
The opposite. We do not take the enquiry, we do not rank ahead of you for your own dealership name, and every listing sends the buyer to your page. What you get is buyers who found you while comparing the market, and who often already have finance approved.
